Pistis: Digital Marketing You Can Trust

Pistis - Jack Dorsey cover

The new model of advertising and branding demands that companies improve public life and satisfy the needs of our higher sacred selves.
Pistis is a free magazine that will be given out to local business owners. We combine print, video, and digital while understanding the human element. We also address the fact that the standard research techniques of corporate America are cheating us of many great experiences.
According to the SBA “only about half of all small businesses have websites.”
At Pistis we provide:
  • Web Hosting
  • Website Development
  • Email Marketing
  • Database Marketing
  • Content Marketing
  • Mobile Apps
  • Video Production
  • Search Engine Marketing and Advertising
  • Social Media Marketing and Advertising
Instead of devaluing customers by offering deep discounts, small businesses can use digital marketing techniques such as database marketing. The basic idea in database marketing is to build a close personal relationship with each customer that is based on quality, service, friendship, loyalty, and communications. And, not based on discounts.
You would not give a neighbor $5 for helping you move furniture. It would be an insult. Instead, you offer a cup of coffee or a beer, and 15 minutes of chat around the kitchen table. That is the kind of relationship that database marketing creates. Discounts send the wrong message: we are cheap guys whose basic product is overpriced. We want to buy your loyalty. We don’t care about you. We care about your money.

Database marketing campaigns identify Gold customers and develop programs designed to retain them. Resources that small businesses can not afford to spend on all of their customers. Profits come from working to retain the best, and encouraging others to move up to higher status levels.

Pistis will help small local businesses identify Gold customers and develop digital marketing campaigns to retain them and encourage others to become Gold customers.

Stop Mass Incarceration & Endless War

We are raising money to help close the achievement gap.

Stop Mass Incarceration & Endless War

  • Grown in the USA with organic cotton
  • Made in North Carolina
  • Transparent supply chain
  • Water-based inks
The Achievement Gap
For decades, educators have struggled to close the “achievement gap,” the persistent differences in test scores, grades and graduation rates among students of different races, ethnicities and, in some subjects, genders.

Creating computer games

Psychologists are finding evidence that short, simple interventions can make a surprisingly large difference. Terrance Jackson, the publisher of Pistis, adopted some of these simple interventions in a class called “Creating Computer Games with Terrance Jackson” that was offered to local 5th-8th graders at Larchmont Library. We are raising money to expand this program.
Students will also learn to code by helping us build a mobile app:
We need a theology of abundance equal to the grace and generosity found in the blood of Jesus poured out for many…. Unfortunately, our economics is built on a model of scarcity, and our theology feels equally impoverished.

The Community Health & Holistic Eating mobile app will be based on the fact that community and autonomy are very important elements in determining health and also on the idea that the production, marketing, and consumption of food is key to nearly everything.
The production, marketing and consumption of food is key to nearly everything. (It’s one of the keys to war [including the war on crime], too, because large-scale agriculture is dependent on control of global land, oil, minerals and water.)

The Community Health & Holistic Eating (CHHE) Mobile App

CHHE

The Community Health & Holistic Eating mobile app will be based on the fact that community and autonomy are very important elements in determining health and also on the idea that the production, marketing, and consumption of food is key to nearly everything.

IGods by Craig Detweiler

We need a theology of abundance to deal with the outcomes of our technology, the massive fruitfulness that the Creator God baked into us. We need a theology of abundance equal to the grace and generosity found in the blood of Jesus poured out for many. We need a theology of abundance commensurate with the superabundant presence of the Holy Spirit that can flood our senses, short-circuit our rationale. Unfortunately, our economics is built on a model of scarcity, and our theology feels equally impoverished.

I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly

We have begun by developing three maps:
  1. Farm-to-Table Restaurants
  2. High Road Restaurants
  3. Black-owned Restaurants in Harlem

As cooks and eaters, we need to engage in the nuts and bolts of true agricultural sustainability.

Had any mustard greens, cowpeas, buckwheat, kidney beans, barley, or millet lately? If not, you should be considering these crops as part of your diet.
Food is more than individual ingredients—it’s a web of interconnected systems. Hence, we should follow the example of our ancestors and start eating the produce that the earth wants to give, instead of demanding that the earth cough up the items on our grocery lists.

Yet direct mail is still the biggest single direct marketing channel, worth around $45 billion a year in the US alone. But it’s increasingly clear that printed marketing communications work best when used in conjunction with digital channels such as email, personalized web pages (PURLs), database marketing, and mobile elements.
UWS Magazine is a free community magazine that will combine print with digital and video. UWS Magazine will initially be mailed to residential addresses in the 10025 zip code (Upper West Side [UWS] neighborhood in New York, NY). We will follow-up by mailing UWS Magazine to residential addresses in the 10024 zip code.
According to Forbes, 10025 is listed as #289 and 10024 is listed as #34 on “America’s Most Expensive Zip Codes.” In addition to the high income in these communities, there is also political influence. Zip codes 10025 and 10024 contribute about 37 times and 176 times as much, respectively, to political campaigns as the average zip codes.

Political contributions from 10025 and 10024

Our community magazines will create real innovation and real value for local families and businesses by understanding people as human beings, not consumers. The basic idea is to build a close personal relationship based on quality, service, friendship, loyalty, and communications. And, not based on discounts and deceptions.

If Black People Are To Be Free

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Malcolm X

According to the Census Bureau, African-Americans are 13.2 percent of the population of the United States, which comes to about 42 million people. Research by the Economic Policy Institute found that 51.3 percent of young Black high school graduates are underemployed. Yet, a recent report by Nielsen and Essence estimates that Black buying power will reach $1.3 trillion in the next few years. If we were talking about countries, that would be the 16th biggest economy in the world.

Black Buying Power

According to a New York Times article about Maggie Anderson, the author of Our Black Year, a study by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University found that between half a million and a million jobs could be created if higher-income Black households spent only $1 of every $10 at Black-owned stores and other enterprises. Yet only a tiny fraction of Black buying power is spent at Black-owned businesses.

Maggie Anderson

Don’t just say that Black unemployment is four times that of Whites. Say that Black businesses only get 2 percent of the $1 trillion of Black buying power, and then say that Black businesses are the greatest private employer of Black people.
